Product Description

Magnetic Grippers for Robotics and Industrial Automation

Introduction to Magnetic Gripper

Pneumatic magnetic grippers allow you to safely handle steel workpieces and plates with great speed and precision. Grippers – also known as end effectors – are ideal for speeding up or automating your production process. Durable, safe and accurate robot grippers are a reliable end of arm solution due to the bistable design.

Working Principle

Magnetic grippers function by generating a magnetic field that attracts and holds ferromagnetic materials. There are three main types based on their operating principle:

  1. Permanent Magnet Grippers – Use fixed magnets to generate constant magnetic force. They are energy-efficient and maintain grip even during power loss but require a mechanical system to release parts.

  2. Electromagnetic Grippers – Use electric current to create a magnetic field. The grip can be activated or deactivated instantly by controlling the current flow.

  3. Electro-permanent Magnet Grippers – Combine both technologies, allowing strong holding power without continuous energy consumption and offering controllable magnetic release.

The choice of gripper depends on factors such as load weight, part geometry, required holding force, and cycle time.

Key Features

  1. Non-contact gripping mechanism – Reduces surface wear and deformation.

  2. Fast pick-and-release operation – Ideal for high-speed automation.

  3. High holding capacity – Capable of lifting heavy or large metal parts.

  4. Energy-efficient design – Especially with electro-permanent systems.

  5. Safe and reliable performance – Can maintain grip even during power interruptions (in permanent-magnet types).

Applications

  • Sheet metal handling – Transferring steel sheets between press stations.

  • Automotive manufacturing – Handling body panels, brackets, and structural parts.

  • Robotic welding and assembly – Positioning ferromagnetic components precisely.

  • Metal fabrication and storage – Loading and unloading steel plates or parts.

  • Packaging and palletizing – Lifting and stacking metal products efficiently.

Advantages

  • Enables fast, clean, and damage-free material handling.

  • Reduces mechanical wear due to non-contact operation.

  • Offers high energy efficiency (especially electro-permanent types).

  • Provides strong, stable grip with minimal maintenance requirements.

  • Improves productivity and safety in automated metal-handling processes.
